Safe and Minimally Invasive Options
Dr. Lynn Klein and our Philadelphia team at Aesthetic Dermatology can improve a number of cosmetic concerns with the use of sophisticated laser technology. Laser treatments are quick, safe and minimally invasive. They are generally well tolerated by patients, and can be combined with a skin care product regimen or injectable treatment for best results.

IPL is a safe, minimally invasive treatment for people with uneven skin tone or texture (e.g., noticeable age spots, rosacea or areas of sun damage). It can also improve the appearance of mild acne scars, oversized pores, dark undereye circles and fine lines.
During treatment, gentle pulses of intense light are directed at the skin. The light is absorbed by the abnormally dilated blood vessel or pigmentation and the heat from the light damages the lesion or blood vessel. Through its natural healing process, the body absorbs the lesion.
Typically, a series of five treatments is needed to achieve the desired results. Annual touch-up treatments are recommended to maintain the effects.
Laser hair removal eliminates or significantly reduces unwanted hair on the face and body. It can be used on nearly all hair colors and skin types, including dark skin tones.
During treatment, pulses of highly concentrated light are delivered to the area of undesired hair. The heat from the light damages the hair follicles, preventing future regrowth.
The laser only disables follicles in the active growth stage, and hair grows in different cycles; therefore, several treatment sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, are usually needed to achieve the desired reduction in hair.
We offer two treatments for spider vein removal: laser therapy and sclerotherapy. Both options are safe, minimally invasive and do not require downtime.
Sclerotherapy is the traditional form of treatment, during which a special sclerosing agent is injected into the veins to collapse the walls. The veins eventually shrink and become less visible or disappear. During laser vein removal, light energy is directed at the veins, and absorbed by the pigment in the blood vessels. The veins coagulate and are absorbed by the body.
Laser skin tightening with the Laser360 platform can be performed on the abdomen, buttocks, legs, arms, neck and face. The light energy heats the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, which gradually causes the skin to contract. The surface of the skin is protected with controlled cooling to prevent discomfort or burns. The skin tightening effects typically become apparent over the next few months after treatment. Several treatment sessions may be needed to achieve the desired results.
Fractional laser resurfacing improves the appearance of early signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, and evens out the skin’s tone and texture. We use the Pixel Perfect laser platform for fractional resurfacing. The laser is used to create tiny perforations in the deep layers of skin tissue in a specific pattern, leaving uninjured tissue in between the micro-injuries. The body responds by producing new collagen for healthier looking skin; the fractional pattern also speeds up the recovery process.
The ClearLift is a non-ablative laser skin resurfacing treatment that delivers powerful anti-aging results in less than an hour. The laser creates small wounds in the deep layers of skin, in turn triggering the body’s natural healing response and production of fresh collagen. Treatment is minimally invasive and does not require incisions, injections, sedation or recovery downtime.
We use sophisticated lasers to improve the texture and pigmentation of bothersome scars on the face and body. Fractional or ablative methods may be used, depending on the nature of the scar. After treatment, scars look flatter, less pigmented and more consistent in texture with the surrounding skin.
