Microdermabrasion & Chemical Peels

Minimally Invasive Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

Philadelphia Microdermabrasion ResultsDr. Lynn Klein and our team at Aesthetic Dermatology recognize the need for beautiful, healthy looking skin without the investment or downtime associated with surgery. Skin treatments don’t have to be invasive or painful; in fact, you should feel like you are being pampered. Our board certified dermatologists offer several minimally invasive skincare treatments designed to treat noticeable imperfections and reveal luminous skin.

Microdermabrasion treatment improves the appearance of light scars, discoloration, sun damage and stretch marks by gently “sanding” the skin. This removes the thick, damaged outer layer of skin, reveals fresh skin underneath and thickens collagen for a more radiant complexion. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, hands, back, elbows and feet.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive treatment performed in our Bala Cynwyd dermatology office in Montgomery County. Anesthesia is not needed. Treatment is not painful, but you may feel a slight scratching sensation.

During treatment, a special diamond-tipped wand is carefully moved across your skin. The wand exfoliates the skin and sloughs off dead skin cells. Then, the skin cells are gently suctioned through a small vacuum-like device.

Microdermabrasion does not require any downtime. Certain skincare products may be recommended for additional post-treatment nourishment. You may have temporary redness and swelling, and flakiness and dryness for several days. These side effects resolve on their own.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels restore a healthy and beautiful glow to your skin without surgery, injections or incisions. The treatment improves blotchiness, uneven pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles, age spots, acne scars and areas of sun damage. It is most commonly performed on the face, but can also be used on the neck and hands.

Chemical peels vary by intensity (i.e., light, medium, deep) based on the depths to which the chemicals penetrate the skin. Your chemical peel will be tailored to your unique skincare needs and skin type. Anesthesia is not needed, and the treatment is not painful. You may feel a slight stinging sensation, but it will not hurt.

During treatment, a special topical solution will be applied to your skin. It may cover your entire face or the specific area of concern (e.g., crow’s feet, vertical lines around the mouth). The solution is left on the skin for a few minutes and then washed off. The chemicals are neutralized. This technique “peels” away the damaged outer layer of skin to reveal fresh, healthy skin cells.

After treatment, your skin may have some redness, flaking and mild irritation. This is normal, and the side effects will quickly subside.

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion is one of the most popular treatments at Aesthetic Dermatology. An advanced form of microdermabrasion, the treatment combines non-invasive exfoliation with the infusion of specially formulated topical solutions. SilkPeel Dermalinfusion is effective on areas of hyperpigmentation, scarring, dehydration and photodamage.
